Here's our arrangement. Quinn will keep you safe and tell you what you're looking at — the birds, the grass, the science of the sand. I'll fill the stretches in between with the tales: where these horses really came from, the dream city that a storm wiped off the map in a single night, the men who rowed boats into hurricanes to save strangers, and a swimming pony that a children's book made famous the world over.
So keep your eyes on the road and both shoulders for horses, and I'll do the talking when there's a story worth telling. And on this island, friend, there's a story around near every bend. Here we go.
