Champlain's East Face

The story

Peregrine falcons nest on these cliffs. The trail up the face is nearly vertical, on iron rungs, and is usually closed from late spring into summer.

The Precipice lot is just ahead on your right. The trail from it is nearly vertical, on iron rungs and ladders, and people have been seriously hurt and killed on it. It's a climb, not a walk. That pale wall rising out of the trees is the east face of Champlain Mountain, and the Park Service calls these cliffs formerly impassable. Peregrine falcons nest up there, so the trail usually closes from late spring into summer. In about a mile is the entrance station. Have your pass handy, and when you reach the booth, tap pause. Boone will wait.
