Clifton — Journey's End

Clifton — Journey's End

The story

And we come to rest down in Clifton, the old copper town tucked into the narrow canyon of the San Francisco River — a weathered, hardscrabble, history-soaked place of old brick storefronts, a cliffside jail blasted out of the rock, and more than a century of hard mining stories. It's the end of the Coronado Trail, and a fitting one: from the cool green roof of Arizona all the way down to the copper heart of it.

Thank you for riding this long, lonely, magnificent road with me and with Ranger Boone — every one of those four hundred and sixty curves. If you enjoyed the drive, please do leave us a review; it truly helps other travelers find these tours and find the nerve to tackle this glorious empty highway. Get yourself a cold drink and a full tank — you've earned it. We'll see you on the next road.
