Alright — this is the big decision point of the whole tour, so listen up. Coming up on your LEFT, in about a quarter mile, you'll see the turn-off into the Lighthouse Trail parking lot. That's the trailhead for the most famous hike in the canyon — the walk out to the Lighthouse, that great stone spire — and it's the optional highlight of the day. Here's the quick version so you can decide: it's a real hike, close to six miles round trip, straight out across the open canyon floor with almost no shade anywhere, in full Texas sun. Folks get in trouble out here every year underestimating it, so only take it on if you've got the time, the legs, and plenty of water. If you want it, slow down and turn LEFT into the trailhead lot just ahead, and I'll give you the full rundown when you park.
