That is the Enchanted Circle. Thank you for spending the drive with us — genuinely, thank you for letting us ride along.
Look at what fits inside eighty-odd miles. A thousand-year-old Pueblo and a resort built in the sixties. A town of seven thousand that became a field of stones. An English novelist on a mountainside. A boom, a bust, a murder on a dark road, and a chapel that two parents built for their son before their country was ready to.
This is Ranger Quinn. It has been a pleasure.
And this is Boone Merrick. If you take one thing away, take the hillside at Angel Fire. There are a lot of monuments in this country that got built because somebody had a budget. That one got built because two people would not accept that their boy was a statistic. You can still walk into it.
Drive the circle again the other way round some time. It is a different road going clockwise — different light, different mountains in the windshield, and the passes come at you in the opposite order.
And if you enjoyed riding with us today, please do leave us a review — it genuinely helps other travelers find these tours, and it helps us keep making them.
Safe travels, and watch for elk at dusk.
