And here's the north junction — the loop is done, and One Fifty-Eight hands you back to Highway Three Ninety-Five. Left, and ten minutes north, is Mono Lake itself — those limestone tufa towers standing out of the water are the strangest sight in the Eastern Sierra, and after the story you heard along Grant Lake, you've earned the epilogue: that lake is rising, inch by inch, because of the fight that started on the creek beside you. Right takes you back south toward Mammoth.
Thank you for driving the June Lake Loop with us. Four lakes, a backwards creek, a staircase nailed to a cliff, and a resurrected stream — sixteen miles, and every one of them earned its place in the story.
This is Ranger Quinn — and this is Boone Merrick. If you enjoyed the drive, please leave us a review; it helps other travelers find the tour and keeps us making more. Safe travels — and go see those tufa towers if you've got the light.
