Robbinsville — The Eastern Gateway

The story

Robbinsville, NC — the eastern gateway to the Skyway, seat of Graham County, home of Chief Junaluska's grave and the Snowbird Cherokee community. Fuel and food here; none for the next 43 miles.

And there's Robbinsville ahead — the eastern end of the Skyway, and the end of your ride. You've come the whole forty-three miles down off the crest into the Cherokee homeland of Graham County. Roll into town, fill the tank, get a meal — you've earned it.

If you've got any time left, this is the place to spend it: Chief Junaluska's grave is right here in town, and the old Cherokee country runs deep in these hills. That's our tour of the Cherohala Skyway. Thank you for riding along with Boone and me — the wagon train, the old turnpike, the boar and the balds and the fifty-mile views. If you enjoyed the drive, please leave us a review; it helps other travelers find these tours and helps us keep making them. This has been Ranger Quinn and Ranger Boone Merrick. Welcome down off the mountain — and come back and climb it again.
