The story
Highway 24 runs past the Fruita Historic District at the heart of the park, with the orchards to the south and the cliffs to the north. Eastbound drivers get the last word on fuel here, since no station stands between this point and Hanksville.
Three stops come fast now, all on your left in the next two miles, the schoolhouse, the petroglyphs and Hickman Bridge. First, one thing, and I mean it. From here it's thirty-seven miles east to Hanksville, and there is no gas. None. If you're low, Torrey is eleven miles back.
