Tolliver Falls — the Quiet One

Tolliver Falls — the Quiet One

The story

The small, graceful Tolliver Falls — the loop's gentle final waterfall.

The last of our four falls is a smaller, gentler thing — Tolliver Falls, where little Tolliver Run slips down a mossy staircase of rock on its way to join the river. After the thunder of Muddy Creek and the muscle of the Swallow Falls, Tolliver is a whisper — a delicate, ferny, fairy-tale cascade, easy to walk right past if you're not paying attention. So pay attention. Slow down here.

There's a real lesson in a place like this: the big waterfall gets the crowds and the photographs, but the little one, tucked in the trees, is often where the magic actually lives. Sit on a rock, listen to Tolliver trickle, watch the light in the ferns. Then we'll close the loop back toward where we started.
