Salt And Thunder Fade

Salt And Thunder Fade

The story

As the road nears the ocean at La Push, the forest thins and the maritime environment becomes unmistakable: flat, bright coastal light, cold salt-and-kelp air, and the constant roar of Pacific surf. These sensory cues mark the threshold between the coastal forest and the open shoreline that lies just ahead at the road's end.

That low roar of the surf fades behind you now, swapped back out for the hush of the deep forest. Funny how quickly the coast lets you go, salt and thunder one minute, dripping green silence the next. You stood at the very edge of the land and the start of the sea. Now the trees fold back around you and walk you home. Roll on.
