The Edge Of The Continent

The Edge Of The Continent

The story

State Route one ten leaves Highway one oh one west of Forks and runs toward the Pacific through the homeland of the Quileute Tribe. The corridor passes from interior conifer forest into coastal spruce country before reaching the ocean near La Push and the Mora area, the gateway to Olympic's wild shoreline beaches and short coastal trails.

Heading back up the valley now, the salt air slowly fades behind you and the deep green closes back in. You've been out to the literal edge of the continent and turned around. Remember that the people whose country this is didn't pass through. They built their lives facing that water, reading its moods, taking what it gave. Carry a little of that with you back inland.
