Closing the Loop Drive back at the entrance — and a farewell from your rangers.
And the Loop Drive brings us back around near where we began. Before you go, think about what you just drove through — a scrap of the wild, ancient Florida that has almost entirely vanished everywhere else, saved by a handful of stubborn people who loved it, and built into a park by young men who needed the work. It's still here, a thousand years of forest, because somebody cared.
On behalf of Ranger Boone Merrick and myself, thank you for driving Highlands Hammock with us. If you enjoyed the ride, we'd be grateful if you'd leave us a review — it helps other folks find their way to these quiet old places. Stretch your legs on a boardwalk before you leave, grab a bite at the café, and come back in a different season to see it all change. This has been Ranger Quinn — drive safe now, and mind the gators.
