Two forty-seven-foot falls at the foot of Ganoga Glen, and the place where this trail stops forgiving mistakes.
Eyes up, but only once your feet have stopped. That's Tuscarora Falls, forty-seven feet, a long white tumble that finishes with a clean drop. The one you just passed while Boone was talking is Erie, and it's the same forty-seven feet. After Ganoga itself, those two are the tallest falls on this side of the glen.
And I have to speak plainly with you here, with respect. A man died in a fall near Tuscarora not long ago. This is the first real climbing of the day, and it's where this trail stops forgiving mistakes. From here up, the steps are steep, the rock stays wet, and the drop is right beside you. Stay on the trail. Keep a hand on the rail where there is one. Keep children close. Take your photos standing still, on solid ground.
When you're ready, climb on. Ganoga Glen is just getting started.
