The French King Bridge on Route 2, soaring 140 feet above the Connecticut River between Erving and Gill — the grand eastern gateway to the Mohawk Trail and the addressable start of the drive.
And here's the French King Bridge ahead — the end of the line. You've driven the whole Mohawk Trail, down out of the Berkshires and back to the Connecticut River. Ease across that beautiful span; a hundred and forty feet below you runs the deepest valley in this corner of New England, and it makes a fine last view.
That's our tour of the Mohawk Trail. Thank you for riding along with Boone and me — for the old summits and the flaming hills, the river gorge and the Bloody Pit and the mountain that looked like a whale. If you enjoyed the drive, we'd be grateful if you left a review; it helps other travelers find these tours, and it helps us keep making them. This has been Ranger Quinn and Ranger Boone Merrick on the Mohawk Trail. Drive safe out there — and come run it again in the fall, when the whole road catches fire.
