Your walk opens on the great green at the heart of Vancouver Barracks — the drill field, concert lawn, and gathering place where an Army post lived its daily life for over a century.
Welcome. I am Ranger Quinn, and this walk takes us across the Vancouver Barracks Parade Ground, the open green that was the center of military, social, and community life at this Army post. This is where soldiers drilled, where bands played, and where the whole community gathered. To begin, safely cross the road and head north toward East Evergreen Boulevard. Stop on the sidewalk by the yellow fire hydrant and face south, down the hill, toward the wooden walls and tower of reconstructed Fort Vancouver.
